Reports To: Supply Chain Manager
The Senior Buyer will provide day to day tactical procurement support for the purchase of materials, components, services, and supplies in support of the manufacturing operation. Buyers will provide procurement support to ensure the use of suppliers of best performance relative to quality, on-time delivery, total cost and service. Buyers must be able to effectively and efficiently communicate information internally and externally. Buyers purchase components and materials from external suppliers as well as inter-company suppliers. Additionally, the Senior Buyer will provide support for strategic sourcing by assessing current supplier base and developing future purchase strategies and actions to proactively reduce total cost and optimize performance.

Buyers will negotiate complex contracts with suppliers and conduct buy negotiations.
Lead in managing supplier performance by addressing issues such as rejections and quality problems and supplier requested schedule changes.
Lead supplier consolidation and rationalization efforts.
Determine material requirements from production schedules and prepare purchase order and bid requests to ensure efficient movement of materials.
Develop, establish, and maintain supplier performance measurements
Participate in Material Review Board (MRB), Derivitave and New Product Introduction processes (NPI).
Buyers manage all change of suppliers
Source new components
Update ERP data
Review potential shortages and expedite delivery of goods.
Plan and manage inventory
Procure all tool modifications, refurbishments or replacement tooling for production parts andresolve any tool related issues.
Buyers work with Suppliers and Supplier Development Engineer to improve delivery and reduce quality issues for production parts.
Follow up with suppliers to ensure Corrective Action Requests are acceptable and returned on or before the due date.
Work to maintain or lower the total cost of procurement.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university plus five to eight years related experience and/or training.
Four additional years of experience is accepted instead of a bachelor’s degree.
Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and company policies and procedures.
Write reports, business correspondence procedures and work instructions.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, peers and vendors.
- Proficient in MS Word software; MS Excel spreadsheet software.
