As part of the team at Pratt & Whitney, you’ll help answer today’s challenges in powered flight while shaping and supporting tomorrow’s solutionsP&W’s Materials and Processes Engineering (MPE) Department is seeking an engineer with knowledge of jet engine materials, materials performance, and failure modes to contribute data and interpretation used to generate physics-based material models and to provide insight into effects of processing, structure, and applied stresses on material behavior. Successful candidate should have detailed knowledge of and ability to establish the relationships among microstructure, strength, creep, fatigue, crack growth, and fracture responses in advanced aerospace materials. This position will collaborate closely with MPE’s Structural Alloys Group and Materials Modeling Group to establish knowledge and predictive tools to bridge the gap between materials processing, material structure, and material mechanical behavior.

Qualification: Basic Qualifications

3 years of experience with fractography failure analysis

Preferred Qualifications

PhD degree preferred with 0-3 years work experience

Research and application experience in materials behavior analysis and modeling desired

candidate should have sound communication skills, strong teaming ability, appropriate attention to detail, and be capable of managing several simultaneous projects.

A background in the use of SEM, EBSD, and EDS is desirable.

Education: Masters degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering with Materials focus or equivalent.
