GKN Aerospace Cromwell was established in 2003. Our site specializes in the design and manufacture of composite assemblies for both military and commercial applications using innovative and cutting edge technologies.

Role Purpose

Perform a variety of tasks associated with the Quality Engineering and Part Inspection departments which aid the implementation of Continuous Improvement related to the design, fabrication and development of composite components, assemblies and bonded aircraft parts for both Military and Commercial aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in Quality team projects related to systems such as Production Part Approval Process, New Product Introduction and Root Cause and Corrective Action.

  • Work with written instructions, Quality policies, check sheets, standard inspection directives and procedures.

  • Participate with in-process and final inspection to ensure standards for composite component quality meet workmanship and functional performance.

  • Assist with composite component part verification using tools such as such as a portable coordinate measuring machine, shadow graph, gages, calipers, scales and micrometers.

  • Review production difficulties which are traceable to newly-built or faulty tooling, vendor-supplied material and/or manufacturing production procedures.

  • Interface with process engineering, manufacturing operations and supplier quality on project tasks.

  • Assist in with daily and weekly issues related to Quality department responsibilities.

  • Work with Environmental, Health and Safety to execute on 2015 company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment.

Qualification & Skills


  • Must be a currently enrolled Junior or Senior majoring in Quality, Quality Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, Technology, or a similar field.

  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Formal Qualifications

  • MUST BE A U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.

  • Strong computer skills desired.

  • High level of ethical standards personally and professionally.

  • Experience in a Manufacturing or Factory Environment is preferred, but not required.

  • Aerospace experience preferred, but not required.
